MMBOXER.FE.063005.JEL - DURHAM - When I go to boxing tournaments I feel like a millionaire. I be focused and stuff. I know I'm gonna win the fight," says 15-year-old Monreco Goldston who boxes under the name "God's Warrior.". Goldston trains five days a week, seven hours a day at the Inner City Youth and Boxing Center in Durham. After a year of training, the young man already has the lean and muscled body of a boxer and moves with a grace unknown to most 15-year-old men.. "I want to be a champion," he says. "I feel like I'm an individual with a goal. I don't want to be out on the street like these other people selling drugs and stuff. I want to be positive because I have a little brother who's looking up to me...I can't go out there and do bad things.". Goldston, whose eyes dart around the gym as quickly as his fists punch the air, rotates between exercises with a natural ease. "Boxing is in the mind. If your mind is weak, your body is weak," he says with a quiet determination. Staff Photo by Juli Leonard
